August 2020

Music Heals Faith

…the second Covid-19 Pandemic video anthology produced by Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz. It is a compilation of 16 homemade videos recorded by four generations of Filipino musicians dedicated to Classical Music, Opera, Broadway, Pop, Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Film Music, House Music, World Music, and Liturgical Music. The online benefit concert was made to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the San Roque de Alabang Parish.

The Covid Wars

…due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Enhanced Community Quarantine or Lockdowns were extended in many parts of the world. Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz recruited passionate & compassionate pianists, students, and non-music professionals from the United States, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Hong Kong, Brazil, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Croatia, Canada, and the Philippines. The group known as THE S.H.I.P. (Stay Home International Pianists) was established. Each chose a movement from one of the most significant works in Classical Piano Literature - Robert Schumann's Carnaval - as a video tribute to Healthcare Workers and Frontliners.

Manila International Piano Masterclasses Festival

… presented by the embassies of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America, the 10-day intimate yet intensive piano camp was held in the City of Makati. It is the first and only piano festival in the country set in a 19th Century salon style environment. Recitals, master classes, performance revues, and lessons, were conducted by eminent guest concert pianists & pedagogues such as Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri (Italy/France), Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz (Philippines), Wael Farouk (Egypt/USA), Chi-Ying Hung (Taiwan), Anait Karpova (Belgium/Russia), Kyung-Ah Kim (Korea), Adam Kent (USA), and Roberta Rust (USA). The MIPMF Final Concert Marathon featured the 24 participating Delegates at the Manila Pianos Showroom.

Recitals, master classes, performance revues, and lessons, were conducted by eminent guest concert pianists & pedagogues such as Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri (Italy/France), Chiara Cipelli (Italy), Adam Kent (USA), Roberta Rust (USA), and Elodie Vignon (France). The Festival Final Concerts featured all the participating Delegates in two solo concerts.

February 2018

Ateneo Grade School Class of 1980 presents the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth in concert

… performed and produced a fundraising concert featuring the OFY held at the Singson Hall of the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University Grade School. The proceeds of the concert established the AGS Retired Faculty Fund.

2017

MusAid International Orchestral Camp Philippines

… an intensive orchestral camp was held at the Eugenio Lopez Center in Antipolo from May 31 to June 16. The Visiting Mentors were recruited by the international organization MusAid and included violinists Clara Vazquez & Sherri Zhang, violist Stephen Fine, double bassist Andrea Beyer, cellist Diana Wuli, oboist Marissa Honda, clarinetist Kevin Schaffter, and YOLA music director Juan Felipe Molano.

Orchestra of the Filipino Youth International Concert Tour Malaysia

…the OFY collaborated with the Amazing Orchestra of Malaysia, the KLPAC Symphonic Band, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in concerts at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center to benefit Child Aid Asia and the National Cancer Society of Malaysia

Ang Misyon’s International Awareness & Educational Tour USA

… members of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth were selected to perform six concerts in Washington DC, New Jersey, and New York, including one at the United Nations. The performances were received with standing ovations. The Ang Misyon Scholars took artistic workshops with members of the American String Quartet and the New York Philharmonic.

Orchestra of the Filipino Youth Concert Tour Dumaguete

… the second concert tour out of Luzon of the 55-member Orchestra of the Filipino Youth with conductor Olivier Ochanine. The concerts were held at the Luce Auditorium of Silliman University in Dumaguete.

Orchestra of the Filipino Youth Debut Concert Tour Iloilo

… the first ever concert tour out of Luzon of the 55-member Orchestra of the Filipino Youth with conductor Olivier Ochanine. The concerts were held at Iloilo’s 1000-seater University of San Agustin Auditorium & the historical landmark Nelly Garden.

Stop Hunger Now Rockwell Tent

… a benefit concert by the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth under the baton of Olivier Ochanine in the wake of the Typhoon Haiyan catastrophe. The concert raised enough funds to send 120,000 meal packs to the victims in Tacloban through Stop Hunger Now.

OPUSFEST 2013

The International Classical Music Camp Antipolo (Philippines)

… the 4th Edition of the intensive Classical Music camp was held in Antipolo from May 18 to 27. The Artists-Faculty included acclaimed concert pianists of their generation: Francisca Mendoza (Chile), Chong Lim Ng (Malaysia), Chie Yoshinaka (Japan), Martin Soderberg (Spain), Micha Haran (Israel), and Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz (Philippines). Guest Speaker Raju Mandhyan (India) gave a workshop on Music Entrepreneurship. In addition to the daily lessons and master classes, the camp featured lectures & seminars on the Kodaly Method, how to prepare for a career in Music, and image building. OPUSFEST was inaugurated by the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth under the baton of Olivier Ochanine. The concertos of Artist-Faculty Concert was accompanied by the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gerard Salonga. The Final Concert featured the 61 Delegates from Malaysia, Korea, and the Philippines, performing solo piano works & chamber music.

2010-2012

Sulong Sining Trilogy
Insular Life Theater, Alabang

… the Outlooke Pointe Foundation, an institution whose goal is to bind & empower the Philippines through the Arts, spearheaded these milestone projects, under the Artistic direction of Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz. Sulong Sining Trilogy featured programs merging East & West cultures and showcased Filipino & Foreign artists such as The Himig ng Muntinlupa Chorale, singer Mica Pineda, young Filipino pianist Joshua Alexander Manalo, cellist Giancarlo Gonzales, violinist Jimmy Tagala, violist David Tagala, bassist Vincent dela Cruz, percussionist Lexter Santos, & American conductor Marlon Daniel.

OPUSFEST 2010

The International Piano Festival Cebu (Philippines)

… the 3rd Edition of the intensive piano camp was held in Cebu from August 23 to September 4. The Artists-Faculty included acclaimed concert pianists of their generation: Eric Ruple (USA), Chong Lim Ng (Malaysia), Emily White (USA), Chi-Ying Hung (Taiwan), Roberta Rust (USA), and Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz (Philippines). Guest Artists such as cellist Sung-Won Yang (Korea), violinist Eun Shik Kim (Korea), and clarinetist Ariel Sta. Ana (Philippines) were invited to perform chamber music. In addition to the daily lessons and master classes, the camp featured lectures, workshops, & seminars on Music Entrepreneurship, Keyboard Skills, and Image Building. The penultimate evening of the Festival was a culminating concert featuring the handpicked 13 Delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, and the Philippines, while the Final Concert by the Artists-Faculty featured works in their Philippine premiere and one-piano four hand duets.

… Founder & Artistic Director of the FILFEST Cultural Foundation’s second season. It ran from April to November 2009, and was held at the Insular Life Theater in Alabang’s Filinvest Corporate City.

FILFEST 2008: A Season of

Celebrating Music & Dance
Insular Life Theater, Alabang

… Founder & Artistic Director of the season of concerts entitled FILFEST at Insular Theater in Alabang featuring the most celebrated Filipino and Asian Artists. Running from May to October 2008, the pilot season also established the FILFEST Cultural Foundation spearheaded by Mme. Victoria Zubiri in the pursuit to enhance Arts & Culture towards the level of excellence in the south of Metro Manila and CALABAR Zone.

The Ultimate Pianist Competition

…The objective of the Ultimate Pianist Competition 2008 is to discover and promote young pianists in the Philippines and identify their role in the world’s Artistic & Cultural map by providing performing opportunities and help in the enhancement of their careers. The Competition aims to simultaneously propagate the talents of the Ultimate Pianist as a Recitalist, Accompanist, Chamber Musician, and Soloist with Orchestra. The international juries have been comprised of pianists and pedagogues from Canada, China, Germany, Korea, Israel, Poland, and the United States.

OPUSFEST 2008

The International Piano & Chamber Music Festival Manila (Philippines)

… An intensive music camp held in the city of Manila from July 27 to August 10. The faculty involved acclaimed Concert Artists of their generation: pianists Roberta Rust (USA), Jacques Despres (Canada), Gila Goldstein (Israel), Yameng Huang (China), Wolfram Schmitt (Germany), Yuan Sheng (China), Milton Laufer (Puerto Rico), pianist-conductor Jeffery Meyer (USA), violinist Michael Sutton (USA), cellist Nigel Boehm (Canada), and the Philippines’ own violinist Alfonso Bolipata, cellist Renato Lucas, and pianist Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz. There were lessons and lectures at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, chamber music concerts at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion, and concerts with the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Metro Manila Community Orchestra, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra at the Philamlife Theater. The last evening of the Festival was a culminating concert featuring 30 Participants from Korea, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

OPUSFEST 2006

The International Piano Festival Alabang (Philippines)

… An intensive piano camp held in Alabang from November 20 to December 3. Master Classes were conducted by the eminent piano pedagogue Solomon Mikowsky and critically acclaimed concert pianist Jozef Stompel. The faculty involved acclaimed concert pianists of their generation: Gila Goldstein (Israel), Youngho Kim (Korea), Wolfram Schmitt (Germany), Tara Hofmeister (USA), Yuan Sheng (China), Milton Laufer (Puerto Rico/USA), and Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz (Philippines). There were six recitals along with six Mozart concerti performed with the Manila Symphony Orchestra under the baton of three conductors. The last evening of the Festival was a culminating concert featuring 23 Participants from Japan, Korea, China, and the Philippines.

Symphony: A Tribute to Mother Earth on Earth Month

…under the auspices of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Philippines, the weekly series featured performances of music in conjunction with the environment, nature, and the wildlife. Concerts of Classical Music, Jazz, Opera, Broadway, Chamber Music, and even the Philippine premiere performances of new works were held in the Amphitheater of the Ninoy Aquino Wildlife Park.

…a series of solo piano and duet performances by up and coming Artists held in an 18th Century Salon setting. It drew rave reviews for its unique concept, educational format, and world-class standards of performances

Coming Home, Opus One
(The Concerts & Live Recordings)

…brought home from abroad nine of the greatest Artists of our generation such as the Bolipata Brothers, Rowena Arrieta, and conductor Julian Quirit, to name a few, to perform two historic concerts and benefited nine children’s welfare institutions. A two-CD set of the concerts were also produced.
